About me
I was born and raised in Utah county. I loved my childhood and all the experience it gave me to prepare me for the real world. I believe nothing is a coincidence. Our experiences empower us if we let them. Any problem can be solved. If you can name it you can tame it.
While in elementary school I was a part of the Spanish Immersion Program. I was fluent in Spanish and still can speak a little.
Through my education I learned to study for my learning type (visual learner).
I attended UVU, SUU, and WGU. All three universitates I studied education. UVU I studied elementary education. SUU my major was Composite Physical Science in Education. Then, at WGU I studied Earth and Space science. I received my bachelors in Educational Studies.
When my eldest child was preschool age I started do preschools. Some years other mothers participated. Some year I did the preschool on my own. I have done this for 12 years.
I have substituted for five years. I also have been the teachers aid in a Mild/Moderate Special Education Classroom for over one year.
I married the love of my life over 20 years ago. Anything worth having is hard, and marriage is no different, and I love being married.
I have six children and 3 dogs. Birth #1 I was induced the day before my due date because my Dr. was going out of town and wanted the money for the birth. Being induced is not a pleasant experience. Pitocin hurts, I was sick to my stomach, and people came into the delivery room that I was not expecting to be a part of the birth. There were also people waiting in the post delivery room that I was not expecting. This made me extremely embarrassed to have people I was not very familiar with see me in this state. If I had had a doula present, things would have been different because she would have helped me see where I could say no and where hospital policy and procedures needed to be followed. Birth #2 I was a little more educated and wanted to do natural childbirth. But, when I got to the transition phase of my birth I started to panic and wanted an epidural. That epidural wasn’t necessary and it injured my spin. It wasn’t necessary because I was only about 30 minutes away or less from holding my second child in my arms. A doula could have helped me through the short time of pain and have the birth I wanted. Birth #3 I had a certified nurse midwife. But this midwife was not present at the birth. The on-call OB was who delivered my baby. No one was there to help me through the birth. When I told the nurse I needed to push, she said go ahead. I pushed once and caught my own baby. I pushed him out much too quickly. A doula could have coached me through the birth and advocated for me so I wouldn’t have been alone and wouldn’t have had to catch my own baby. Birth #4 I was doing too much and ended up going into labor too early. I had a shot to stop labor. I was also on bed rest for a short time. I was at a 4 when I started active labor. This baby was born very quickly. Although I saw a midwife all through my pregnancy the same OB ended up delivering the baby. If I had had a doula I would have had someone there to help guide me through this experience. Birth #5 is when I found Richelle Jolley. She is an amazing midwife. As I was transitioning this time someone was there to help me calm down and call on the angels from heaven to help me. It was a very spiritual birth and I loved this birth. Birth #6 was a perfect birth again. Richelle Jolley was the midwife for this at home birth as well. I feel these six births have made me who I am. I believe they have given me insight into the experience of birth. I tell my story to help others see that in each of the four first births a Doula would have helped me achieve my birth wishes. When I was in survival mode I needed a calming sound voice to help me through the birth. Richelle did that for me during my last two births. I really would love to help others have a positive birthing experience by being their doula and helping them as Richelle helped me.
I am a nurturer. I love to help things grow. I believe that my life experiences have made me what I am so I can help others grow. Empowered women, empower women.
If you can name it you can tame it.
